New Edition 'hanging garden'

Just finished putting together a new edition. This work, titled 'hanging garden' is inspired by a monotype that I made for my show 'far from the tree' at the Macdonald Stewart Art Centre in 2004. The monotype, 'hanging garden' was purchased by the MSACentre for their permanent collection and was out of my life quite quickly. It was one of my favourite pieces from the show and I had always hoped to revisit the work in an edition of some type. The edition is comprised of 10 etchings with chine collé. Each print is made up of 12 etched plates and almost that many different handmade Japanese tissue papers (washi). It has taken some time to press flat and dry out completely, but they
are now ready to leave the studio.
If the good driving weather keeps up, we will be delivering one of the first of this edition to Open Studio  and Canvas Gallery in Toronto this Friday afternoon.

busy pre- birthday fun

Spent the day before my birthday dropping off some artwork at Canvas Gallery in Toronto
with my friend Wendy. Since we were in the city we decided to make it a day of fun too.
Went shopping a bit, ate lots of yummy things, soaked in the waters and enjoyed some
local beers with friends.
'love part I, II & III' and 'wind in blue branches' are now at Canvas Gallery

Wendy introduced me to fish tacos at Tacos El Asador (Bloor & Clinton) and to the strange and wonderful walnut cakes and the machine that makes them, just down the street.

This is Wendy blissed out after I introduced her to the fabulous body blitz spa.
Some people think it is good to keep this place a secret but I think it is too good to not share.
We met up with Siobhan and Pam for a flight of ales at the Indie Ale House brewery on Dundas. Then Margaritas and silly hats at Cantina. Siobhan found a painting she was especially fond of at Margaret's. Then we were tired and full and my birthday had become official.

apparently the hats are only meant for decoration but it was too late to go back

we were curious about the rue morgue house of horror, which it turns out is a magazine and a few other things in a converted old chapel. you can read a bit more about them here.

new work

This is a work that I just finished.  The four canvasses had been hanging around in my studio for some time waiting for just the right 'something' to pull them together.  They are multiple layers of printed
gampi on canvas.  I am feeling that I can now finish some more works that have been taunting me
around the studio.  My husband is suggesting that maybe they would be good as much larger works.
These are 12" x 12" and are at Canvas gallery in Toronto.
