First of events was a lovely opening at AMG in Guelph, a luxury kitchen appliance shop, to celebrate their new fully outfitted show kitchen. This is not the average kitchen unless you have the space and love cooking alot, but a warm space for gatherings and cooking demonstrations and of course to show off the numerous wonderful gadgets that they have. With two industrial fans on high, huge fridge, grills and numerous different ovens going I was shocked that there was hardly a sound. A few chefs from Platters were busy cooking up some delicious bites while we watched on sipping wine and schmoozing. Renann Isaacs introduced Sandra and Alan to my work and they were happy to use a few pieces to finish off the space. I took my son Odin as my date, which only reinforced his recent interest in going to cooking school. A life of good food and fine dining suits him as a very good career choice. He was told that the hours are not for everyone... we will see.
Some time ago, I worked with Judith Miller of Stonegarden Studios on a book project 'this is a love song, sort of' written by Linda Kenyon. Judith has created quite a few lovely books pairing artists with writers and was the host of a book event at the University of Waterloo bookstore. Since retiring from the University English department Judith has been very busy with some new titles which I am excited about. Michelle Purchase and I had a nice afternoon congratulating Judith and meeting some of the other artists and writers and of course picking up some wonderful Christmas presents. You can find all of the books on the Stonegarden Studio website if you would like to see more and even purchase them there if you like.
