Mary Misner

This is a photo of the lovely Mary Misner, announcing her upcoming retirement as director of Cambridge Galleries (now, Idea Exchange). She is standing in front of a work I made for a show titled, 'soft celebration' at the Preston branch of Cambridge Galleries in 2010. The work is a mixed print on many layers of washi with hand stitching titled, 'four season (Canadian) rug'.
Mary Misner was director of Cambridge Galleries for 27 years and had a huge impact on the arts community far beyond the city of Cambridge. The list of her achievements is many and are better described by a few of the following publications.
The Cambridge Times
The Record
Idea Exchange
Ontario Association of Architects
Mary will be presenting a talk about the gallery's permanent collection + contemporary textile art on October 15th at part of the Idea Exchange October lecture series.
