Print City: Detroit!

This year the Mid America Print Council is having their biennial conference, Print City: at the intersection of Academic and Independent Urban Print Shops, in Detroit. I am excited about taking in some of the shows and talks and also looking forward to seeing a show at Corktown Studios that I am participating in. The show is a juried print exchange on the theme REVIVAL, which is also the title and I can't wait to see the 19 other interpretations. In Detroit, I will be able to pick up my edition of the portfolio also~ yay! Lots of exciting going on. Dlectricity is Detroit's nuitblanche and will take place this weekend- more to take in! We just booked a bus tour with Show Me Detroit Tours, who were very friendly and called us to work out our pick up and drop off points, while suggesting we take in some of the print studios in the Eastern Market while we are there. We are going to do some of the driving (maybe walking too) theme tours featured on this great website, One Day in Detroit. I am sure there will be lots of photos when we get back, should make up for this visually boring post.
If you take a look at this link about the Heidelberg Project that might satisfy your ocular cravings.

If you are going to be in the Wellington County this weekend, you might enjoy visiting the University of Waterloo's print shop for the Printmaker's Compendium website launch on Saturday 27th, 11am-5pm.

I found a visual! Here is a photo of the piece that I entered for the REVIVAL show. The work is titled, 'mending' and is a two-plate etching with chine collé.
