Artwork at the Dreamhome

I had my crabapple branch triptych hanging in the Rotary Dream Home this Summer and got to take a quick snap before we took it all down.  The house looked great, thanks to Buy the Yard interior decorators and all of the wonderful artwork from local artists chosen by Joanne Poluch of Remarque art consulting.

Have returned well rested... sort of

Our family had an opportunity to rent my childhood cottage near Bancroft.  At first I was hesitant but was quickly convinced that I had to spend some time up there again as an adult, sharing all the wonderful things that I got to enjoy as a child and teenager.  The weather was perfect, the water was cool and we were surrounded by wonderful old friends and family eating, drinking and staying up late to watch the moon and stars.  One of the things that really brought back all the memories was the walking around barefoot everywhere. The big rocks embedded in the earth, some with patches of moss growing in the cracks and gnarly old roots that you had to watch your toes on when running for hide and seek in the dark.  I don't think I paid any of them much mind when I was young, I just learned them so as not to hurt my feet.  Twenty-five years later, I recognized each one as a familiar part of my childhood and I was comforted to see them still there unchanged.  There may be some new work brewing with these stones... we will see.
It was sad driving home but I know that it is still all there and that many good memories are still alive with all of us.

Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition

I went to the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition yesterday and saw lots of wonderful work.  We made sure to visit David Caesar,  a very talented artist from Guelph whose booth is the very last one on the North West side of city hall.  It is worth the wander to find his beautiful paintings.

Art on the Street, Guelph

Saturday July 16th is Art on the Street in downtown Guelph.
If you are thinking of getting out of town for the day, doing a
bit of daytripping, or just wondering what is going on in
in Guelph next Saturday, check out the link for all the info.
It is a good show, only ONE day a year and you won't
want to miss it if you are close by.

Lydia Neiwenkamp, award winner last year at Art on the Street will be there again this year with some exciting new work!

50th Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition

Starting tomorrow and running the whole weekend is the 50th annual Toronto
Outdoor Art Exhibition and I can't wait to see all the new work there.
For us, it is a definite go-to for seeing lots of art, meeting the artists and just
wandering around Nathan Phillips Square in the sunshine (fingers crossed)
though we have been there when it was raining and that was almost as
good, just needed to remember the umbrella!
Here are a few images from the website of the work of a few printmakers, but there
is so much more...

UPPERCASE magazine, issue #10- I am in it!!

Maybe you know how much I enjoy UPPERCASE magazine...well the latest issue is
printed and available in some far-flung places like Stockholm.  For us in Canada,
we might have to wait a bit for the mail backlog.  Besides appreciating some
quality time with some tea and a well designed magazine,  I am also looking
forward to receiving mine in the mail because included in this most recent issue
is an interview with yours truly!
I am trying to be patient but it is proving difficult when I know that the printed info is
out there (but not in my hands) and I so want to see my copy.  Maybe I will get it before we go on our big car trip- that would be perfect as I love reading, especially in the car when there is not much else to do (I do not drive).  If you have an issue, maybe you can tell me what you think?

Art Toronto

Just found out that I will have some of my work included in Open Studios booth
for Art Toronto this Autumn!  Looks like it will be a good show and can't wait
to check out some of the work from galleries in Scotland, Bucharest, Venice...
a wonderful show.  Might just look at some of the work through the
website links that are up already.
